Lawyer-turned-administrator Manohar, 58, was elected unopposed to the top post.

"Operation cleanup finally in @BCCI @IPL and @ICC - Congratulations to #ShashankManohar - only person capable of getting the job done," tweeted Modi, who has been living in the UK since the BCCI charged him for misappropriation of funds during the second and third editions of the cash-rich IPL.

Also tweeting a picture of Manohar with the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar President Aditya Verma, Modi also said that there is hope for the cricket world with the right men at the top.

"Good to see #crusader #adityaverma with #ShashankManohar - Finally @BCCI @IPL and @ICC - one can see light," Modi wrote on his twitter handle.
