`Libra Legends` team for Masters Champions League launched
The team, owned by Popcorn Sports & Entertainment Private Limited, is the first team to be unveiled for the league.
Mumbai: 'Libra Legends' team, which will play in the upcoming Masters Champions League (MCL) to be held in United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January next year, was launched on Monday at a ceremony here.
The team, owned by Pooja Jhunjhunwala, Lalit Kiri and Hanwant Kahtri of Popcorn Sports & Entertainment Private Limited, is the first team to be unveiled for the league.
Its jersey and logo was also unveiled. However, former India cricketers Chandrakant Pandit and Kiran More did not turn up.
It was announced during the programme that former India skipper Saurav Ganguly will join the MCL.
The MCL, a Twenty20 league planned for retired cricketers in the UAE next year, had got approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The players, who have officially retired from international cricket, will recreate their magic at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium destinations which have previously hosted cricket tournaments including the IPL.
