New Delhi: The Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee on Monday recommended sweeping reforms for the controversy-ridden BCCI, suggesting a bar on ministers from occupying positions, putting a cap on the age and tenure of the office-bearers and legalizing betting.

The panel also found gave a clean chit to former IPL COO Sundar Raman in connection with the 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal, citing lack of evidence against him.


The world's richest cricket body is known to function in an autocratic manner, hence it would be interesting to watch what happens from here on.

Here are the key highlights from the recommendatory report.


1) One Association of each state will be full member and have the right to vote. Lodha Committee recommends relegation of Railways, Services and Universities as Associate members. They also lose voting rights.


2) The Lodha panel recommends separate governing bodies for the IPL and BCCI.


3) Lodha panel proposes the constitution and establishment of a players association.


4) Lodha committee recommends a steering committee headed by former Home Secretary G K Pillai with Mohinder Amarnath, Diana Eduljee and Anil Kumble as members.


5) No BCCI office-bearer can be Minister or government servant, recommends Lodha panel.


6) No BCCI office-bearer can have more than two consecutive terms, says Lodha panel.


7) No BCCI office-bearer can hold office for more than 3 terms with the rider that there will be a cooling off after each term, says Lodha panel.


8) No BCCI office-bearer can hold two posts at the same time, says Lodha panel.


9) Since BCCI discharges public functions under the India name, it is to come under the RTI Act for greater transparency.


10) Lodha panel recommends legalization of betting.
