New Delhi: Congress, a ruling coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday ruled out rotation of chief ministership but said the annual performance review of the state government would be activated as agreed with its ally National Conference in 2009.

A senior party functionary, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there was no demand for rotation of Chief Minister before the AICC.

Congress and NC had agreed in January 2009 that Omar Abdullah would be the Chief Minister for the entire six-year tenure while Congress would hold some key portfolios including Tourism. "No such demand (rotation of CMship) has come to us," the senior functionary said and indicated that such a measure is unlikely to be implemented.

However, he said that at the time of formation of coalition, both the parties had agreed on reviewing the performance of the state government annually, a measure which has not been implemented since the Omar-led government came to power in January 2009. The annual review of the government`s performance could be activated, he said.
