Mohammad Amir: Pakistan pacer grateful to `Allah` for self redemption
The pacer also added that he was ready to face taunts and harsh remarks on and off the grounds.
New Delhi: Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir made a return to the national scenario after being included in the side's limited overs series squad against New Zealand.
Amir, who served a five-year ban and jail time for indulging in spot-fixing during the 2010 tour of England, was expected to make the squad after being brought back into the national camp despite some resentment by fellow players.
The youngster completed a cycle of redemption following his spectacular fall from grace in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal.
Keen to put the past behind him the pacer stated that whatever he did five years back is not acceptable and that he is grateful to 'Allah' for giving him a chance of self redemption.
"It is very clear to me what I did five years back is simply not acceptable but I am grateful to Allah for giving me another chance to redeem myself," Amir said.
The pacer also added that he was ready to face taunts and harsh remarks on and off the grounds.
"All I can do is bowl well and take wickets."
However, there is still a possibility of the pacer not boarding the plane to New Zealand.
The 23-year-old's comeback is dependent on him getting a visa and clearance to tour New Zealand.
In case there are issues with his travel documents, Mohammad Irfan will replace him in the T20 squad.
Pakistan will play three Twenty20s and as many one-day internationals in New Zealand later this month.
