BJP demands CBI probe into Mathura youth`s death
BJP has demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of a youth in Mathura, a case in which the name of a Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister has surfaced.

"Sanjeev Sikarwar was killed and as involvement of a cabinet minister in his death has come to fore, a CBI inquiry should be conducted into the case," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told reporters here. Sikarwar`s body was found on railway tracks in Mathura on October 27 and police claimed he was run over by a train.
However, his father had claimed that his son was murdered and alleged four persons, including State Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narain, to be involved in the killing. On the CB-CID inquiry into the death ordered yesterday by the BSP government, Pathak said it was an attempt to shield the culprits. "CB-CID inquiry is an attempt to shield the gang of black-marketeers," he said.
Raising question on the role of police, Pathak said when the matter was in the jurisdiction of GRP, why the former showed promptness. He also questioned why no action was taken on the letter sent by Sanjeev to police, apprehending threat to his life.
On October 12, Sanjeev had sent a letter to police through post that he was facing threat from two persons as he had launched a campaign against people involved in trade of illegal oil, illicit liquor and other economic offences.
"In the last four-and-a-half years of BSP rule, its ministers and MLAs had been involved in number of heinous cases including rape, murder and corruption," Pathak alleged.
