According to a report in The Times of India, this GC member helped the businessmen trio of Sanjiv Goenka, Harshavardhan Neotia and Utsav Parekh get into a closed-door meeting with Daredevils owners GM Rao and Kiran Kumar Grandhi to discuss about the sale of the franchise.

Considering BCCI's seriousness about matters related with conflict of interest, this is another incident which the Indian board might look into.

A source in the Kolkata-based consortium confirmed TOI that the meeting did take place. Had the talks been successful, Goenka, Neotia and Parekh it is learnt were “very eager to be part of the IPL on a long-term basis“.

“I can't say right now if the GC member was part of the meeting but he certainly helped arrange the meeting,“ a source in the know of things told TOI.

Daredevils have been struggling in the cash-rich tournament for several years now and it has been reported on numerous occasions that the owners are contemplating to sell the Delhi franchise.

Earlier, Sanjeev Goenka-owned New Rising consortium was given the Pune franchise for the next two years by BCCI.
