New Delhi: On Monday Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) welcomed prominent former Indian cricketers – Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman – in their newly-constituted advisory committee. But one former stalwart from the Fab four, which was missing from the list was 'The Wall', Rahul Dravid.

It certainly raised few eyebrows as initially after the BCCI's Working Committee meeting on April 26, few media reports suggested that the board was keen on availing the services of Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid as advisors.

Let's find out the three possible reasons why Dravid decided to stay away from the high profile committee.

Team India coach: May be the Indian cricket board is more interested in making him the coach of the team. He is certainly more than qualified for the job and would be apt replacement of out-going coach Duncan Fletcher. More than anything else, Dravid is a highly-respected figure and can guide Indian batsmen during away tours.

Conflict of interest: Dravid is a no nonsense person and has stayed away from controversies throughout his cricketing career – on and off the field. The former one down batsman, has been associated with Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals. He has been the mentor for RR for quite some time now. And he might not want to raise 'conflict of interest' issues by joining hands with the BCCI.

Ego clash with Ganguly: According to a media report published in Hindustan Times on Tuesday, a BCCI official mentioned that Dravid seemed uncomfortable working with Sourav. “It seems he (Dravid) isn’t comfortable working with Sourav. That’s why his name isn’t on the list (advisory committee),” the official quoted as saying in the report. It means to avoid any ego clashes with Ganguly, Dravid decided to stay away from the newly formed committee of the BCCI.
