Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a sleeper cell of the terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba with the arrest of four persons in Poonch district of the state.
The arrested persons were actively involved in transportation of weapons, communication equipments and other logistics for the outfit, police said.
Police had arrested LeT Over Ground Worker Nissar Ahmed and after his interrogation the module, active in Kalaban, Salwah and Gursai areas of Tehsil Mendhar in Poonch, was busted, police said. On Nissar`s disclosures, his other three associates Haq Nawaz, Ashan-ul-Haq and Aftar Ahmed -- all of them OGWs of LeT were arrested last night, police said.
The module had Pakistan sims cards and was in contact with terrorists in the area, including Haji Hanzalla, the chief operating commander of LeT in PoK, they said.
2 A-K series rifles, 12 magazines, 810 rounds, one Pika gun, 260 rounds of ammunition, one 51 MM mortar shell, 8 landmines, 10 UBGL grenades, 1 UBGL thrower, one wireless set antenna, 19 chargers (W/Set) one satellite SIM card were also seized. More arrests and recoveries were expected in further course of investigation, police said. PTI
