Amidst all the excitement, fans often forget about the dangers faced by international athletes.

A sobering reminder of this was served in the Caribbean Premier League match between the Barbados Tridents and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Two Patriots players - Kieron Powell and JJ Smuts - were involved in a nasty collision as the duo went for AB de Villiers' catch near the boundary rope.

With their eyes fixed firmly on the ball and the absence of a decisive call from either player, they clattered into each other.

All the players immediately ran across to check if the duo was fine. Eventually, an ambulance was called to take Powell off the field.

Thankfully, both the players are fine and no serious damage was done.
