The right-hander took some time to settle down before displaying the full array of his strokes on a lively track.

He was ably helped by fellow Delhi batsman Shikhar Dhawan, as the southpaw too played an equally important knock of 74 runs.

The duo put together a 149-run partnership, which ended in the 17th over. Kohli's 74 came off 44 balls and comprised of 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Before the five-match ODI series begins on January 12, Kohli will have another chance to get more runs under his belt against the same opposition at the same venue on Saturday.

The ODI and T20 series against the Australians will offer Kohli a chance to improve his record Down Under, which isn't as impressive as his other numbers.
