New Delhi: In a classic Twenty20 encounter, world champions West Indies trumped India by one run as America got a taste of high octane international cricket on Saturday.

Dwayne Bravo bowled a brilliant last over to deny MS Dhoni, probably the greatest finisher the game has ever seen, bragging rights at Lauderhill.


The encounter will be remembered as the match with highest aggregate of runs in any T20 game. Asked to bat first, West Indies scored 245 runs, then Indians scored 244; for a combined score of 489 runs.


It beats the previous best of 469 in an IPL game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2010.


In T20Is, howeverm the previous best was 467, in a South Africa-West Indies game in Johannesburg in 2015.


The record making feat was helped by two youngsters, Evin Lewis and Lokesh Rahul, both scoring their respective T20 centuries.
