Hyderabad: Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was on Sunday arrested by CBI in a disproportionate assets case, said he will not bow down to the "political games being played by vested interests" in Congress and TDP, but appealed to partymen to remain calm under any eventuality.
Anticipating an emotional outpouring by his supporters, he asked his party leaders like Vasi Reddy to communicate a special message to all members of his party as well as other supporters, imploring everyone to maintain peace and remain calm at all cost.
"This is the need of the hour especially in view of the upcoming by-polls" he said. Reddy has also said that law and order must be maintained and asked his party cadres to avoid any violence. He reassured his party members and the general public that "I will fight this battle legally as I will not bow down to the political games being played by vested interests in the Congress and TDP," a statement released by YSR Congress said.
Even before he was arrested by the CBI Reddy appealed to the party cadre to remain calm under any eventuality. Talking to a news channel ahead of his appearance before the CBI for the third round of questioning, Jagan said the party cadre should ensure that the bye-elections are held in all 18 Assembly and one Lok Sabha constituencies.
"My message and my request to all those who love YSR (former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy) is to remain calm. We must ensure the bye-elections are held," he said.
