New Delhi: Chile defeated Argentina 4-2 in a penalty shootout to win Copa America Centenario for the second year in a row at MetLife Stadium.

The two sides were deadlocked 0-0 after 90 minutes and also after another half an hour of extra time in a match where both teams were reduced to 10 men in the first half.


In a dramatic start in the penalty shootout, while Lionel Messi missed to scored off the first penalty chance for Argentina, midfielder Arturo Vidal failed to score off the first chance as well for Chile.


Both the teams then went on to score off the next two penalties.


Argentina were bidding to win their first major international title since 1993 in Sunday`s final at the MetLife Stadium.
