New Delhi: Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Friday demanded arrest of those agitating against the Kudankulam nuclear plant under National Security Act. In a statement, he said he fully supported the remarks by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh which appeared to blame some US-based NGOs for difficulties at the plant.
"The prime minister must now take immediate steps and arrest all these agitators under the NSA," he said.

In an interview to `Science` magazine, Singh had said that some NGOs do not appreciate India`s growing energy requirements.

"The atomic energy programme has gone into difficulties because these NGOs, mostly I think based in the United States, don`t appreciate the need for our country to increase the energy supply," he had said, referring to Kudankulam where commissioning of two 1000-mw nuclear reactors has been stalled due to protests.
