New Delhi: Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Friday demanded arrest of those agitating against the Kudankulam nuclear plant under National Security Act.
In a statement, he said he fully supported the remarks by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh which appeared to blame some US-based NGOs for difficulties at the plant.
"The prime minister must now take immediate steps and arrest all these agitators under the NSA," he said.
"The prime minister must now take immediate steps and arrest all these agitators under the NSA," he said.
In an interview to `Science` magazine, Singh had said that some NGOs do not appreciate India`s growing energy requirements.
"The atomic energy programme has gone into difficulties because these NGOs, mostly I think based in the United States, don`t appreciate the need for our country to increase the energy supply," he had said, referring to Kudankulam where commissioning of two 1000-mw nuclear reactors has been stalled due to protests.
