New Delhi/ Patna: Key leaders of NDA ally Janata Dal (United) on Monday slammed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks blaming "festering caste politics" in Bihar as the main reason of its backwardness.
In a curt response, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that “people should look at their own condition before commenting on others”. Narendra Modi, during a public meeting in Rajkot, had reportedly said "that Bihar, at one point of time, was a political and spiritual leader of the country, but it slipped into socio-economical backwardness ever since the casteist leadership took to centre stage", without taking names of individual politicians. JD(U) party chief Sharad Yadav while observing that caste identity is a reality of the country questioned Modi by asking him whether there was no caste identity in Gujarat.
Yadav also quipped that Modi seems to have less knowledge of history.
