New Delhi: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, who has been involved in a war of words with Team Anna, on Saturday said he would sit along with Anna Hazare if the Gandhian fasts against corruption in Uttar Pradesh.
Singh has been criticising Hazare and his team for failing to target parties like BJP and BSP in their anti-corruption fight, and focussing only on the Congress. Singh today further asked Hazare to wait till Parliament’s Winter Session before intensifying his tirade against Congress on the Lokpal issue.
On Friday, Hazare had put off his planned `yatra` against Congress demanding a strong Lokpal Bill, saying he would wait till the end of Winter Session.
"Anna will not say anything now. Wait till the Winter Session is over. He will wait for the Winter Session. Let us see whether Congress brings the bill," Arvind Kejriwal, a key Team Anna member, said. However, other members of the Team would visit Uttar Pradesh from October 17 educating people about the need for a strong Lokpal.
"We will ask people to wait till the Winter Session and will ask them not to vote for Congress if they do not bring the bill in the Winter Session," Kejriwal said.
Asked why they were not opposing BSP, Kejriwal had said, "There is no need for that. Even if Mayawati desires (that the bill is enacted), the Lokpal bill will not come. But if Sonia Gandhi desires, it will come in two minutes. So we need to frighten Sonia and not Maya."
