Puducherry: Expressing dismay over
Puducherry government`s `silence` over the Kudankulam Nuclear
power plant issue, Union Minister of State in PMO V
Narayanasamy on Sunday said it was intriguing as the union
territory would also stand to get power from KNPP.
"The power plant will soon go on stream with cooperation of the Tamil Nadu government. Puducherry will also be a beneficiary from power generated once it is commissioned, getting 67 MW," he said while releasing a book `Kudankulam Power Plant: a boon to the nation` penned by chairman of OBC cell in the PCC committee party office here.
Narayanasamy said he was really taken aback at the `silence` of the government, which was maintaining a stand as if the issue was not its concern. Narayanasamy flayed the government for `discrimination` in finalising cyclone Thane affected beneficiaries. While those in concrete houses in Chief Minister N Rangasamy`s constituency were getting Rs 10,000 as compensation, hut dwellers were being paid Rs 3000 only as relief, he charged.
He said the Centre has powers to order an enquiry into the yardsticks adopted for finalising the relief amount and to take action against those indulging in malpractices
He also alleged that a wrong propaganda was being spread that the Centre`s interim cyclone relief of Rs 125 crore was yet to be released. "The Centre has released already Rs 125 crore in two installments, highlighted recently by Congress Opposition leader V Vaithilingam through the media", he said.
