New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare won’t campaign against the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections in five states owing to ill health. Announcing the shelving of the plan, key Team Anna member, Kiran Bedi said on Thursday that the decision to not involve in poll campaigning was taken after doctors treating Anna at the Sancheti Hospital advised against it.
74-year-old Anna was rushed from Ralegan Siddhi to the hospital on December 31 after complaining of chest congestion. He had been suffering from viral infection, since he undertook a fast on December 27, which was subsequently withdrawn the next day. Although his condition has improved but doctors have advised Anna one month’s rest. Visitors are not allowed to meet hospital authorities to ensure complete rest for him.
