Dehra Dun: A day after the passage of the Lokayukta Bill by the Legislative Assembly, Uttarakhand Chief Minister BC Khanduri on Wednesday said several steps had been initiated to eradicate corruption and provide good governance in the state.

"Corruption is eating into the vitals of the society. Funds allocated for development are siphoned off through corrupt means," he told a rally in his constituency Dhumakot in Pauri district. Khanduri said a strong Lokayukta would be in place in the state soon after the passage of the bill in this regard. To provide good governance and transparent administration, the state government had formulated the Right to Public Service Act. This would help in service delivery to the people in a time-bound manner, he said.
The Chief Minister laid foundation stones of a number of development schemes in Dhumakot.
