The incident happened while Favre was playing for provincial club San Jorge de Villa Elisa when he fell to the ground. He was battling for the ball against Geronimo Quintana, an opposition player for Defensores de Colon.

During the match, accidentally, Favre collided with his opponent and was kneed to the head.

As he regained composure and got up amid pushing and shoving from both teams, another opponent struck Favre in the face, knocking him down post which he couldn't get up.

He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The Argentine Football Association later released a statement to express their condolences.
