Other members of the team are Samarth Dwivedi (3), Rahul Ravi (5) and Harimohan Singh (7). The selection was made on the basis of their performance at the trials held in July.

The Nomura Cup was named after Shun Nomura, the former Vice-President of the Japan Golf Association who donated the Cup and was first held in 1963 in the Philippines.

The Indian team will look for inspiration from the 2011 Indian team that consisted of Khalin Joshi, Chikkarangappa S, Abhijit Singh Chadha and Angad Cheema that clinched the silver medal ending an 18-year title drought.

The biennial tournament has been dominated by Australia, who have won the Cup 10 times and Japan, who are seven-time winners.

The Indian team will battle it out against teams from 26 other countries including Australia, Thailand, Singapore among others.
