Indian golf team ninth at Nomura Cup
The Indian Golf Union team scored two-over 218 to finish ninth on day one of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, Nomura Cup at the Yas Links Golf Club.
Abu Dhabi: The Indian Golf Union (IGU) team of Aman Raj, Samarth Dwivedi, Rahul Ravi and Harimohan Singh scored two-over 218 to finish ninth on day one of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, Nomura Cup at the Yas Links Golf Club here on Friday.
Japan and Chinese Taipei shared the opening round lead at 18-under 198. The lowest three scores of the four count towards the team total in each round. A total of 27 nations are competing in the event.
In the individual category, Patna’s 19-year-old Aman Raj and Bengaluru’s Samarth Dwivedi, 22, who have both represented India together at Malaysian Amateur and Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Championship in Hong Kong this year, were tied ninth after shooting matching two-under 70s.
Bengaluru’s Rahul Ravi shot six-over 78 while Delhi’s Harimohan Singh carded 12-over 84 to finish 70th and 88th, respectively.
