Jaipur: Rebutting Opposition charges,
Rajasthan Congress on Sunday said the removal of certain ministers
from the Cabinet was not because of allegations levelled
against them but was the need of the hour.
"Cabinet reshuffle and change in portfolios is a process and induction of new ministers was the need of the hour looking to the present political situation," All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and in-charge state for party affairs, Mukul Wasnik said.
Running a government is a responsible task, as promises done to the people are to be fulfilled and the Rajasthan government has done a good job in the last three years, Wasnik said after participating in a workshop for speakers and spokespersons. However, he refused to comment on Bhanwari Devi abduction case, saying the matter was under investigation.
All 27 ministers 16 of cabinet rank and 11 junior ministers had resigned on November 15.
Next day, regrouping his team, Gehlot showed door to six ministers, picked five new ones, promoted one to cabinet rank and re-inducted another. At that time, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had insisted that the re-jig exercise had nothing to do with Gopalgarh violence or the missing nurse case.
On the concluding day of the two-day training workshop, Wasnik said that in a political party, effort should always be made to reach the masses with party`s thought.
