A murder convict serving life imprisonment escaped from a local hospital where he was admitted for jaundice treatment, police said on Saturday.

admitted for jaundice treatment, police said on Saturday.
Gurjinder Singh was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after he was detected suffering from jaundice. He escaped from there on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, they said. Following the incident, four jail guards who were deputed to keep a watch on the convict were suspended, police said, adding that while fleeing, Gurjinder also snatched a mobile phone from one of them.
Gurjinder was held guilty in May this year in a murder case and was awarded life imprisonment.
