Address root cause of Kashmir problem: Geelani
Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani said debates revolving around controversial laws like AFSPA were offshoots of an unresolved Kashmir problem.
Srinagar: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah
Geelani on Sunday said debates revolving around controversial laws
like AFSPA were offshoots of an unresolved Kashmir problem.
"Black laws are branches of a tree. When the spring arrives, these will sprout again. The need is to address the root cause (of the problem)," he told a seminar here.
The discussions centring around laws like AFSPA and PSA were derivatives of a lingering Kashmir issue, said the chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference. Months after calling stone-pelting a "business of loss" for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Geelani said "those who want to pick up arms does not need out our certificates."
The separatist leader also called for implementation of an Islamic system across the world saying "only then the peace will prevail". "We have experimented communism, socialism, nationalism, capitalism, dictatorship and even secularism, but all have failed.
"Why are we ashamed to say that Islam is the only perfect system of life?" he said.
