BJP blames Cong for betrayal of Telangana people
BJP attacked Congress accusing it of disturbing the House to avert a discussion on demand for a separate Telangana state.
New Delhi: As Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day without transacting any business, BJP attacked Congress accusing it of disturbing the House to avert a
discussion on demand for a separate Telangana state.
Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar, who was scheduled to raise the issue during the Private Members` business in the afternoon, said he was upset over being denied the chance to voice the concerns of people of Telangana.
"It is betrayal by Congress of the people of Telangana. Just to avoid the issue they disturbed the House today. BJP condemns the act," Javadekar, who is also party spokesperson told a news agency after the House was adjourned following uproar over several issues.
Javadekar`s Private Members resolution was to urge the government to "create a separate state of Telanaga with a separate legislature, executive and judiciary in accordance with the Constitution of India."
Rajya Sabha could not function following ruckus created by most of the parties on different issues. The Shiv Sena and NCP rushed into the well protesting against the alleged atrocities against Marathi speaking people in BJP-ruled Karnataka. They were supported by Congress.
BJP and the Left on the other hand, demanded resignation of Home Minister P Chidambaram. The BSP and the AIADMK members were also on their feet.
