Lahore: Chairman of the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs, Saleem Khurshid Khokhar, has protested the banning of the words ‘Jesus Christ’ in mobile text messages.
He accused the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) of blindly imposing the ban, The Daily Times reports. He said the PTA move has violated Article 19 and Article 25 of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, and Section 298-A and 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said the ban has hurt the religious sentiments of both Christians and Muslims.
He said though the PTA was liable for criminal and constitutional, he forgave the organisation for the blasphemous act.
He hoped the Pakistan Government would not commit such “blasphemous blunders” in future.
The PTA had also instructed mobile phone companies to block text messages containing "obscene" words. ANI
