Govt`s aim is to provide social security to all: Munda
Arjun Munda expressed disappointment over the delay in the start of Dumka-Rampur Haat road, linking Jharkhand with West Bengal.
Sahibganj: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, currently on an inspection tour of
Santhal Pargana, Sunday said Rs 2,664 crore have been earmarked for laying roads and electrifying villages in the region this fiscal, besides providing other social securities.
"Jharkhand government is committed to electrify every village. This fiscal, we have earmarked Rs 1,600 crore for rural electrification while Rs 1,064 crore are proposed for construction of roads," Munda told reporters here. "Besides, the distribution system has to be strengthened to utilise energy for electrification of villages," he said.
Stating that the ongoing construction work of Sahibganj-Gobindpur road would open up an "economic corridor" with the outside world, Munda expressed disappointment over the delay in the start of Dumka-Rampur Haat road, linking Jharkhand with West Bengal. "Our commitment is to provide social security to the people of the state. And we have taken several initiatives in this regard," he said, referring to the right to service act, special scheme for girl child, literacy drive, among others.
