Mumbai: Renowned spiritual leader and social reformer Satguru Shri Wamanrao Pai passed away late on Tuesday at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, an official said. He was 89.
The founder of the Jeevan Vidya Mission, who had had millions of followers worldwide, had been ailing for the past month.
Born in Mumbai October 21, 1923, Pai was an economics graduate who joined the bureaucracy. He retired as deputy finance secretary of Maharashtra. He was inclined to spiritualism from the young age of 25 and later spread his message of universal love through the Vivekananda Centre. Pai set up the Jeevan Vidya Mission in 1955 to continue spreading his message in India and abroad.
