Christelle Zimmer fell in the first race of Saturday`s meeting at the Chartres racetrack, landing heavily on her neck and back.

Zimmer received first aid at the track, with medical staff giving her CPR after she suffered a heart attack.

She was evacuated by helicopter to Rouen hospital, but also suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, Le.Trot said.

It is the first trotting fatality since Yvonnick Bodin, 16, died after falling at Cabourg in 2001.
