Lamine Diack quits as athletics foundation president
Discussions will be held in due course regarding the appointment of a new IAF president.
Lausanne: Former International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Lamine Diack has resigned as president of the International Athletics Foundation (IAF).
"The IAAF confirms it has tonight (Tuesday) received a letter from Lamine Diack resigning from his position as president of the International Athletics Foundation (IAF)," Xinhua news agency quoted the IAAF as saying in a statement.
"This information has been passed to IAF Honorary President HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
"Discussions will be held in due course regarding the IAF and the appointment of a new IAF president."
Diack, 82, who served world athletics chief for 16 years until August, was arrested by French investigators and charged with corruption last week amid allegations he took bribes to cover up doping cases.
