Sindhu, who famously won the silver medal in women's singles event at Rio Olympics early this year, was beaten in straight games 22-20, 21-17 by He Bingjiao of China in Paris.

The 10th ranked Indian lost the second round match in 41 minutes. Sindhu led her Chinese opponent for most part part of the first game, but failed to close out.

But the second game was an altogether a different one, with Sindhu playing the catch up game.

This is the second early exit for the 21-year-old after the Rio success. Last week she crashed out of Denmark Open in the same round.
