Washington: A scale model of the Pakistan compound where al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed has been unveiled by US intelligence agencies.
Wheeled out onto one of the Department of Defence headquarters hallways, the one inch to seven feet scale model is an exact replica of the Abbottabad building where Osama lived in for five years before his death in on May 02, 2011. It was built in six weeks by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and used by military and intelligence leaders to plan the daring nighttime raid, Fox News reports.
Every tree, bush, wall, trash can and physical structure in the model existed at one time at the original compound in Abbottabad. Greg Glewwe, one of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency officials, said everything in the model was based on details learned about the actual hideout.
“Nothing you see would have been included if we didn`t see it there,” Glewwe added. He said the replica was built using satellite imagery, along with other classified intelligence assets, presumably pictures from drones and CIA ground surveillance.
