Panaji: The state Election Commission has issued a notice to Manohar Parrikar-led government for violating model code of conduct, imposed due to the impending June 2 Cortalim bypoll.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had recently announced that the state will not go ahead with the proposed marina project in Sancoale village, which lies in Cortalim assembly constituency. State cabinet had also announced regularisation of workers employed for eradicating malaria.
Goa`s joint chief electoral officer Narayan Navti issued a notice to the chief secretary and advised the government to refrain from making such announcements till the process of byelection to Cortalim constituency was not over.
The byelection was necessitated following the demise of tourism minister Matanhy Saldanha, who died of a massive cardiac arrest recently. Right to Information (RTI) activist Aires Rodrigues had yesterday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the state government for violating the model code of conduct.
