Anil's gold is the second after female grappler Ankus won silver medal in the 38 kg female category on the third day of the Championship.

"I am very happy for making my country proud by winning gold medal. After a winning start in the championship, my confidence level has gone up and it had helped me in winning the finals. I would like to thank my coaches for their efforts during the camp that helped me to win medal."

Anil's journey to the finals was really impressive as he defeated Mangolia's Tumentsogt Bold 10-0 in the semi-final by technical fall.

In the quarterfinal, Anil easily overcame Ertugrul Kahveci of Turkey 12-2 by technical fall.
