Rio de Janeiro: India`s men`s hockey team was beaten by the Netherlands 1-2 as it lost its second match in four Pool B games in the Olympics here on Thursday.

Later, Argentina drew Germany 4-4, enabling India to book a spot in the quarter-finals.


Rogier Hofman`s 32nd minute goal was cancelled out by Indian drag-flicker Raghunath in the 38th minute. Penalty corner specialist Mink van der Weerden scored the winner for the Dutchmen in the 54th minute.


Despite the loss, India remained in the third spot with six points, while the Netherlands moved to the top spot with 10 points.


India will play Canada in their final pool game where only a win or draw will take them to the quarter-finals.
