PWL: Payment issues surface as wrestlers wait for money - Report

New Delhi: The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) has been served with a blow after wrestlers have cried over failure of payments.

According to a report in the Times of India, the PWL that has been battling challenges on various fronts, found themselves involved with another storm as some international and Indian wrestlers are crying foul over delayed payments.

This is a concern for the organizers as it highlights mismanagement, proper planning and execution.

As per the players' contracts, a figure of 40 percent of the total salary was to be paid to them before the start of the league.

But reports state that some grapplers from Ukraine and Mongolia are still waiting for their advance payments. There are some Indian wrestlers too who confirmed that no payments have been made. Interestingly, the league has almost completed a week.

An international wrestler had stated that no payments have been made as it is still in process. He further added that real issues surrounding the payments include taxes, that is to be made in cash abroad or deposited in foreign accounts.

Accounts are the main source of issues with an European wrestler stating that his parents cannot transfer to an account that isn't in his name.

Further reports claim that the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh said the teams were in process of making payments and that there was no crisis.

What comes as a surprise is that Pro Sportify claims that all dues have been cleared and no payment was pending.

Also Haryana Hammer's co-owner Bhupinder Singh, told the TOI that there is no outstanding dues and that they have paid 40 percent advance to all players.
