3 DMK MLAs on way to attend CM function detained
Raghupathy along with Pudukottai MLA Periannan Arasu and Meyyanathan, the Alangudi Legislator, were detained when they were set to leave their party office for the function.
Pudukottai: Three DMK MLAs who were on their way to attend an event in the city in which Chief Minister K Palaniswami participated were detained here to.
According to one of the MLAs, Raghupathy, representing Tirumeyyam, he along with Pudukottai MLA Periannan Arasu and Meyyanathan, the Alangudi Legislator, were detained when they were set to leave their party office for the function.
He said their names had been mentioned in the government invitation, adding that district administration officials had also had invited them to participate in it. Besides,Health Minister Vijayabaskar had also had invited them.
It was against this background that they been 'strangely' detained without any reason being assigned,Raghupathy claimed.
However, police said they detained the MLAs because DMK workers picketed traffic at Brindavanam junction.
The MLAs and DMK men are expected to released later in the evening.
