Google releases developer preview of Android P
Android P update is applicable only for Google`s Pixel range of smartphones that include Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.
New Delhi: Google has released the developer preview of its latest version of Android – Android P. The developers-only preview implies that regular users will not be able to download as yet.
Android P update is applicable only for Google's Pixel range of smartphones that include Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.
But, if you don't have a Pixel device, you can use the Android Emulator to test your app and explore Android P.
To get started with a Pixel device, download a system image and flash it to your device. Then read the Program Overview for timelines and the migration guide for steps to compatibility and building for P. Use the links and instructions below to update your supported device to the latest milestone build.
You can get an Android P system image for development and testing in these ways:
a) Either download a Developer Preview system image and flash the device
b) Or set up an Android Emulator in Android Studio
Google explains that you can download the latest Developer Preview system image and manually flash it to your device. Manually flashing a device is useful if you need precise control over the test environment or need to reinstall frequently, such as for automated testing.
Manually flashed system images do not automatically receive OTA updates to later Developer Preview milestone builds or the final, production version. Make sure to keep your environment up-to-date and flash a new system image at each Developer Preview milestone, said the search engine giant.
