Soon after entering the main compound of the Kendra, one comes across a newly built structure that pays tribute to Lord Rama and his valour. Built in white, the building also features a huge statue of Lord Hanuman that stands 27 feet tall.

Once you enter the one-storeyed structure you will be amazed to see a pictorial narration of the significant episodes from the Ramayana. The intricate detailing and the sheer magnificence portrayed on canvas and framed in ornamental teakwood frame will leave you in awe. Thus you can move back in time and experience the glory of Lord Rama's era.

In the first floor, you will come across a 12-feet tall statue of Bharat Mata made of pure brass. The spirit of patriotism and spiritualism run gracefully high here while her beauty and elegance will leave you spellbound.

Besides the Bharat Mata statue, the building is also adorned with a life-size brass idol of Padmanabhaswamy (Lord Vishnu resting in the Ananta Shayanam posture). Apart from this, there are paintings, carvings and sculptures of other deities including the ones dedicated to Vivekananda and Goddess Kanyakumari.

Within the compound of this building, you will find a captivating marble idol of Lord Shiva installed above a raised platform. His masculine persona and the stream of Ganga flowing through his matted locks will virtually take you to Kailash.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the Ramayana Darshanam building and visitors are required to maintain silence to preserve the sanctity of this place. The exhibition is open for viewing from 9 AM to 1 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM.

So the next time you plan a trip down south, do not forget to visit Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari. The society also provides accommodation facilities. You can thus unleash the mystic in you by exploring the essence of spirituality.
