BSP leader Ramvir Upadhyay also accompanied Prateek and Aparna when they went to meet Yogi at the VVIP guest house where the firebrand BJP leader is presently residing.

The purpose of their meeting was initially unknown since it was  termed a "courtesy call".

However, details of their meeting, which lasted for around 20 minutes, have now emerged.

“It was a courtesy call but Aparna ji also discussed gau-sanrakshan (cow protection) with the CM,”Aparna Yadav's spokesperson later told mediapersons.

Aparna Yadav, who unsuccessfully contested the 2017 UP Assembly Election from the Lucknow Cantt seat against BJP's Rita Bahuguna Joshi, had come to meet the Chief Minister with a bouquet of flowers.

Aparna had raised eyebrows as she had attended a public function of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state capital earlier.

Prateek Yadav – Aparna's husband and Mulayam's son – is a businessman and not very active in politics.

Meanwhile, BSP leader Ramvir Upadhyay, who earlier avoided mediapersons, later said that he met the Chief Minister seeking security for his son since there has been an attempt on his life in the recent past.

"I raised the issue of security of my son and myself with the chief minister who assured that he will look into the matter," he said.
