LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the local authorities to do everything in their power to tackle smog and pollution.

The municipal corporations have been directed to implement a complete ban on garbage burning in the urban areas.


He also directed the authorities to sprinkle water on roads and implement a ban on burning crop residues.


The chief minister also directed the officials to launch a radio campaign in the rural areas to create awareness about air pollution and its harmful impact.


He said that it should run until January 15.


The UP government would also tie-up with IIT-Kanpur to create artificial rain using the latest technology in order to help curb air pollution.
