Zeenext Bureau Yangon, Aug 26: The military junta is preventing food and water from reaching democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her supporters as her standoff with the authorities entered the third day on Saturday. The food and water resources with Suu Kyi and her entourage had been fast running out, said the National League for Democracy (NLD), and it appealed to the people in the nearby towns to help the democracy leader and her supporters. The NLD, in a letter to the administration, said in case there was a deterioration in the health of their leader and supporters it would be the responsibility of “those who have stopped the motorcade”. Suu Kyi sparked the stand-off on Thursday when she travelled outside Yangon in defiance of a ban which confines her to the capital.
