Expelled CPI (M) leader Ritabrata Banerjee accused of sexually exploiting woman; denies allegations
Twitter user Namrata Datta claims that Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal allegedly promised to marry her before getting physically in his Delhi flat
Kolkata: Expelled Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Ritabrata Banerjee is back in the news. This time, a woman has claimed that she was sexually exploited by him on the false pretext of marriage.
Twitter user Namrata Datta claims that the 37-year-old Rajya Sabha MP allegedly promised to marry her before getting physically in his Delhi flat.
On protesting, she was offered Rs 2.5 lakhs to keep quiet and forget about the whole incident.
Datta tweeted to a series of top political leaders, hoping to get justice.
Denying all allegations, Banerjee tweeted in the morning, “Hard Facts. "Manufactured Lies" will be combatted. Will not succumb to "politically aided" threats.”
In September, the CPI(M) expelled Banerjee for alleged “anti-party” activities after he gave an explosive interview to a regional television channel, where he lashed out at senior leaders of the party. He's rumoured to be joining the BJP soon.
