Pakistan better suited to help in Afghanistan`s peace process: Afghan Envoy
Afghanistan`s Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal has said that Pakistan is better suited to help the peace process in Afghanistan than any other country.
Islamabad: Afghanistan's Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal has said that Pakistan is better suited to help the peace process in Afghanistan than any other country.
He made these remarks while addressing an international conference about peace in Afghanistan on Thursday.
Raising questions over the effectiveness of ongoing peace efforts in the region, Zakhilwal said that there is a question mark on how effective these measures are, despite a number of processes in place for keeping peace.
" Taliban have the hidden support of some countries, while there are also questions about the peace keeping efforts from Russia," Dawn quoted Zakhilwal as saying.
The envoy said that the peace would prevail in Afghanistan if Pakistan and India joined hands to resolve the issue.
He also appreciated India and Pakistan's efforts in trying to keep the peace in 2002.
Zakhilwal said the two countries should first understand what peace is before talking about it.
He maintained that Iran and Saudi Arabia's help will go a long way.
"There is no nation as generous as us, and questions should not be raised about our motives," he said.
