The product on offer is “Baijiu”, the most common alcoholic drink in rural China made of grain. The distilled spirit packs a punch of 52 percent alcohol.

The Chongqing-based e-commerce site Tmall.com has advertised the “Singles' Day sale offer” on a onetime purchase of 11,111 yuan ($1,674).

On payment of the said amount, a customer would receive 12 packets of Baijiu every month until his death, the Global Times reported.

"If a customer passes away within five years, their immediate family can continue to enjoy the service after providing valid identification," a store representative was quoted as saying.

The store also urges customers to update their contact information annually.
