In a bid to make volumes and profit, Harley-Davidson X440 is launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 2.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle sits in the lowermost position in the company’s line-up. It is developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp and will retail in a total of three variants. The Harley-Davidson X440 will be rivalling the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Forty Two, Yezdi Roadster, and the upcoming Triumph Speed 400, which is launching on July 5. In fact, in comparison to the Royal Enfield Classic 350, it is pricier by only Rs 30,000.

Harley-Davidson X440: Specs


Starting off with mechanical specifications first, the Harley-Davidson X440 gets a oil-cooled single-cylinder, displacing 440 cubic centimetres with a 2-valved head to produce a peak power output of 27 Bhp and 38 Nm of max torque. The motor is E20-complaint. The engine comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Braking duties are taken care of by its 320 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc brakes, with the safety guard of dual-channel ABS system. As for tyres, it uses a combination of 18” front (100/90) and 17” (140/70) rear wheels, which are also the lightest in the segment.



Harley-Davidson X440: Design


The Harley-Davidson X440 looks distinctive but with the HD essence to identify it in the pool of other motorcycles. The all-metal front fender, rear fender, seamless fuel tank, and side covers emphasises the bold character of the motorcycle. It further features a class-d automatic headlamp with integrated DRLs, while the tail lamps come with diffuse lighting system. For turn signals, it uses classic retro shape, along with collimator technology for consistent ring illumination. Also, accessories like a comfortable touring seat, back rest, bar end mirrors, bash plate, fog lamps, windscreen, saddle bags add to the character of the motorcycle and enable the owner to customise the bike.

The 3.5” speedometer with a TFT digital display comes with two display modes - Day and Night in addition to the ‘Connect 2.0’ feature (available on S variant) which offers more than 25 notifications on the display as well as the mobile application.

Harley-Davidson X440: Colours & Variants


The Harley-Davidson X440 will be available in three variants – Denim, Vivid and S at Harley-Davidson dealer network across the country at an attractive price point of Rs 2.29 lakh (Denim), Rs 2.49 lakh (Vivid), and Rs 2.69 lakh (S). The Denim edition comes in a Mustard paint colour option with spoke wheels whereas the Vivid edition offers two striking dual-tone schemes of Metallic Thick Red and Metallic Dark Silver and comes with alloy wheels. The S variant gets a Denim Black colour tone with 3D branding and premium finishes, plus machined alloy wheels, Gold engine and body parts, machined engine fins and the ‘Connect 2.0’ package.
