New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said its compact SUV Vitara Brezza has crossed 1.1 lakh units sales mark in the first year of launch.

The model which was launched in March last year currently has pending bookings of over 50,000 units with waiting period of around 20 weeks depending on variant.


Commenting on the market response to the model, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said: "Within a short span, Vitara Brezza has redefined the urban SUV segment in India."


The model has fuelled MSI's growth of utility vehicle (UV) sales, which has jumped over 120 per cent in the April-February period of this fiscal.


The company's UV sales during the period were at 1,77,430 units as against 80,522 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
