I-T dept attaches 12 plots of Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, Rabri Devi

New Delhi: In a hube embarrassment for the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar, the Income Tax department has slapped charges under Benami Transactions Act against Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav's wife Rabri Devi and daughter Misa Bharti.
The I-T department t served attachment notice under the stringent act for assets worth over Rs 9 crore against the Lalu Prasad family.
The Income Tax department attached a total of 12 plots of Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi, and sisters Ragini and Chanda Yadav.
On May 16, the IT Department had launched searches at 22 places in and around Delhi in connection with alleged benami (held in proxy) property deals involving Lalu Prasad and his children -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav and Misa Bharti.
Benami means held by proxy. In this kind of transaction, the person who pays for the property does not buy it or hold it under his/her own name.
